“Eden, Interrupted — The Struggle” is a reflection on the inner battles that love can sometimes awaken within us. Not a battle against another person, but against our own fears, insecurities, pride, and need for control.
Love can truly strip us bare — it can force us to face parts of ourselves we would otherwise prefer to keep hidden. Sometimes the greatest struggle is not between two people, but between who we are and who we are afraid of becoming.
For me, the figure in this work is not only in conflict with another figure, but also with itself. As if trying to hold balance between the instinct to protect and the need to remain open.
The snake here becomes a symbol of change and temptation — a reminder that every transformation asks us to release something old, even when we are not yet ready.
Each layer is built by hand, intuitively — as an attempt to preserve the feeling of a moment in which the struggle is still happening, yet is already beginning to reshape who we are
“If you are not willing to fight for love, was it ever truly love?”
